Grounded 2's Creators Are Coming to Beijing's Nuclear Fusion Fan Fest

Chinese players of Grounded 2 have something to look forward to this month. The survival game’s executive producer, Marcus Edward Morgan, and its public relations manager, Shyla Lane Schofield, have recorded a short video greeting for the country’s fans and confirmed they will attend Nuclear Fusion 2026 in person.

Nuclear Fusion, known locally as Hejubian, is one of China’s biggest fan conventions for games and pop culture. This year’s edition runs on October 24 and 25 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, opening each day at 9 a.m. and closing at 5 p.m., with last entry at 4 p.m. The Grounded 2 team will be stationed at booth B07-2 in Hall 3, where visitors can meet the two developers, chat about the game, and take part in activities the organizers have kept under wraps.

Grounded 2 is the sequel to Obsidian Entertainment’s 2022 survival hit, in which players are shrunk to the size of an ant and must build, craft, and fight to survive in a backyard full of oversized insects and hazards. The sequel, published under Xbox Game Studios, expands that premise with new environments and cooperative play. Obsidian, an American studio owned by Microsoft, is best known for role-playing games such as Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, and Pentiment, so the Grounded series marks a lighter, more experimental turn for the team.

Inviting senior developers to a Chinese fan event is part of a broader pattern. International studios have increasingly treated China’s conventions as a direct line to a huge and vocal player base, sending producers and community managers to sign autographs, answer questions, and gauge appetite for localized content. For fans, the appeal is simple: a chance to ask the people who actually made the game why a certain boss is so hard, or whether a favorite feature will return.

The video greeting, released through Chinese gaming outlets including Gcores and Douban’s now-showing section, shows both developers speaking directly to Chinese players and expressing their eagerness to visit Beijing. It is a small gesture, but one that tends to travel well in Chinese gaming communities, where developers who make the effort to show up in person are remembered fondly.

Nuclear Fusion itself has grown from a niche gathering into a fixture on the national calendar, drawing studios, voice actors, cosplayers, and indie teams across two halls of exhibitions. Panels, stage events, and merchandise stalls fill the schedule, and queues for popular booths can stretch for hours. Attendees planning to meet the Grounded 2 team are advised to arrive early, since developer signings at previous editions have filled up quickly.

For anyone who cannot make it to Beijing, the developers have hinted that more news about the game’s China-facing plans may follow the event. For those who can, the message from the team is straightforward: they are looking forward to meeting players in person, and they hope to see a big turnout at Hall 3, booth B07-2.
