Euro Truck Simulator 2 Iceland DLC Brings 14 Towns and Ring Road

Trucking simulators have a strange reputation for calm. Euro Truck Simulator 2, first released in 2012 by Czech studio SCS Software, has built a durable audience by letting players haul cargo across a simplified Europe at their own pace. On November 10, 2026, it adds a new country to its map: Iceland.

The Iceland expansion, announced with an official trailer, will include 14 cities and settlements, among them Reykjavik, the capital, and Akureyri, the main town in the north. That is a modest number compared with the hundreds of locations already in the game, but the pitch is about landscape as much as population.

SCS says the map follows a sightseeing route around the island, linking busy areas, quiet settlements and remote outposts. Players will drive past mountains, endless plains, steep cliffs, volcanic craters, fast rivers and waterfalls, all recreated by the studio’s map designers. The developers describe it as an unusual expansion, rich in scenery and untouched nature, and call Iceland one of the most remarkable countries on Earth.

For a game built on long motorway hauls, Iceland presents a different kind of driving. The country’s ring road, Route 1, circles the island and connects most of its inhabited places. In the game, that road becomes the spine of the expansion, threading together the 14 stops and the empty stretches between them.

The appeal for existing players is partly novelty: a new terrain, new weather and a landscape that looks nothing like the continental highways they have driven for years. Volcanoes and waterfalls are not standard trucking scenery, and SCS is leaning into that difference in its marketing.

SCS Software has supported Euro Truck Simulator 2 for more than a decade with paid map expansions and free updates, a model that has kept a relatively small studio relevant in a market dominated by bigger publishers. The Iceland pack follows that pattern: a self-contained region sold as an add-on, with its own trailer and release date.

The release date is November 10, a Tuesday, which fits the studio’s usual scheduling. The expansion will be available through the game’s existing storefronts, though SCS has not detailed pricing in the material released so far. Players who already own the base game will be able to add Iceland without buying anything else.

What the expansion says about the genre is simple. Truck simulators are not about speed or competition; they are about place. Iceland, with its small population and dramatic geography, gives the game a place unlike any other on its map, and that may be enough to bring lapsed drivers back for another long haul.
