GTA 6 Release Trailer Drops With a Month to Go

Rockstar Games has released a new launch trailer for GTA 6, the long-awaited next entry in its blockbuster open-world crime series. With just over a month left before release, the footage comes from the PlayStation 5 version and gives players their clearest look yet at the game’s setting: Leonida, a fictional stand-in for Florida, and its neon-drenched streets.

The trailer leans hard on mood. French electronic duo Justice, who also composed music for the game’s original soundtrack, supplies a brand-new track called Flower in a Hurricane, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The song also appears on a companion album, GTA 6: The Original Score, which is already available.

At the centre of the story are two leads, Jason and Lucia, described as a modern-day outlaw couple. What begins as a supposedly easy score pulls both of them into a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the whole of Leonida. The official synopsis promises that the pair will see the darkest side of America’s sunniest place, and that surviving will require them to depend on each other more than ever.

That framing marks a first for the main series: a dual-protagonist structure, with Lucia positioned as a leading figure in a franchise that has historically built its marketing around lone male antiheroes. Rockstar has been careful not to reveal too much of the plot, keeping specifics under wraps while letting the atmosphere do the selling.

For a global audience, the scale of the moment is hard to overstate. GTA 6 is the follow-up to one of the best-selling entertainment products of all time, and each new piece of footage becomes an event in itself, dissected frame by frame across social platforms. Media outlets in China have reported on the trailer within hours of its release, a sign of how far the series’ reach extends beyond Western markets.

The timing also matters. The game was originally expected much earlier, and repeated delays have tested fan patience. Now, with a confirmed release roughly a month away, attention is shifting from speculation about delays to speculation about performance, story length and how the two leads will share screen time.

Justice’s involvement adds another layer of interest. The duo is known for a maximalist, disco-inflected electronic sound that suits the series’ long tradition of curating era-defining radio stations. Pairing them with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard on a single track is an unusual, genre-blurring move that has already generated conversation online.

What remains to be seen is how the game handles the pressure of expectation. Rockstar has not shown extended gameplay in this trailer, choosing instead to build anticipation through cinematic moments and music. For now, that seems to be enough. With a month to go, the question is no longer whether GTA 6 will dominate the conversation, but how completely it will.
